Poppy’s Patina Chassis Armor

Poppy’s Chassis Armor is a single pack moisture cure urethane that is designed to prevent or stop rust. It can be either brushed, rolled, or sprayed.

Our Chassis Armor is a high performance coating designed for application directly on rust or seasoned metal surfaces; it will form a complete waterproof barrier to stop rust immediately.

A North American VOC Compliant Single stage coating.

  • Wipe-On Clear Coat

    Directions For Use

    Can I do more than one coat? Yes. If wiping wait 24 hours after first application and give the surface a light scuff then apply. If spraying allow 20 minutes of flash time between coats.

    How much do I need? One 32oz container will cover one long bed C10 Truck+

    Shake well before use.

    Directions

    Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment, and for best results use in a well ventilated area at a temperature between 50°F (10°C) and 77°F (25°C).

    PREPARATION IS KEY

    Wash the surface thoroughly with our Pre-Cleaner and water using a Light Duty Grey Scuff Pad removing as much loose scale, dirt, grit, and oxidation as possible.

    Rinse thoroughly and let dry -completely.

    Then with our Wax & Grease Remover use 2 Rags - wet one rag, then wipe on while drying with the other clean dry rag - before applying the clear coat.

    Our Clear Catalyst can be mixed at a ratio of 8:1 to achieve chemical resistance. (8 parts clear coat to 1 part catalyst).

    Mixed product will have a two hour pot life at 77 (25°C) degrees.

    Blow off provided Applicator Pad before use to get rid of loose fibers.

    After surface is completely dry, with our Wipe-On Clear Coat wet a provided Applicator Pad in a paint tray for large areas.

    For small hard to get to areas, wet one of our Recycled Knit Rags and wipe on.

    DO NOT APPLY IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT.

    Always apply to a small inconspicuous area to test results before going over entire vehicle.

    Apply thinly and quickly to one panel at a time. Once product has been applied do not wipe over the same area again. If you have missed a spot or have an imperfection to correct, allow 24 hours to cure before scuffing that area and re-applying.

    Allow 20-30 minutes for dry to touch and 24 hours for full cure.

    Use acetone or xylene to remove from unwanted surfaces.

    Notes:

    *Poppy’s Clear Coats may cause chemical rewetting or wrinkling of (some) finishes.*

    *We recommend using spray-on application if applying over cheaply applied paints, this includes spray can, alkyd coatings and 1k applications - remember to always test on a small area first.

    *This product may also be sprayed using a HVLP Spray Gun with a 1.4 nozzle at 35 psi*

    *Lay used rags and applicators out flat to dry properly before disposing of, to avoid any spontaneous combustion.

  • Directions For Use

    Although not required but optional, is our Clear Catalyst used by mixing with either our Matte Wipe-on Clear Coat or Gloss Wipe-On Clear Coat at a ratio of 8:1 ( 8 parts clear to 1 part catalyst ).

    This will add chemical resistance to the clear coat protecting it from accidental gas spills etc. Our catalyst is packaged in 8oz that contains 4oz providing enough product to catalyze one 32oz (946ml) can of clear coat Item description

  • Directions For Use

    Wax and Grease Remover is used right before applying our clear coat.

    It is used to remove any surface contaminates that may be present.

    It will remove any wax or oil type coatings that may have been previously applied to your patina surface.

    Simply wet one rag with the Wax and Grease Remover; wipe on and wipe dry immediately with another clean dry rag.

    Repeat until surface is clean.

    Allow surface to fully dry before applying clear coat.

    *One 32oz (946ml) can will cover 90 sq. ft.(8.36m) *

    *Do not open can until you are ready to use*

    *Do not apply if the temperature is below 50°F (10°C)*

    *Do not paint directly from the Chassis Armor can*

    *Do not shake, stir from bottom to top when adding thinner*

    Prepping the Surface

    -Remove all loose paint or rust with a coarse wire brush or Heavy Duty Red Scuff

    Pad.

    -Do not attempt to remove ALL rust before applying.

    -Clean surface of oil and grease with our Degreaser.

    -Rinse surface thoroughly and allow to completely dry.

    Brushing and Rolling Application

    -When brushing or rolling, open container and pour a workable amount into the provided 32oz

    Plastic Container then immediately seal Chassis Armor can to preserve shelf life.

    -With the provided 2” 50.8mm Chip Brush, paint onto desired surface.

    -Make sure surfaces that you do not want product on are masked off.

    -Do not pour leftover product back into container, as it will shorten shelf life.

    Spray Application

    -For spray application, thin our Chassis Armor with Xylene or other appropriate thinners

    10:1(10 parts Chassis Armor 1 part thinner). Stir from top to bottom after adding thinner.

    Thinning adds VOC content - check your local regulations.

    -Immediately seal Chassis Armor can after pouring out to preserve shelf

    life.

    -Apply paint over clean surfaces for best finish.

    -Do not pour leftover product back into container, as it will shorten shelf life.

    Cure Time

    -3-4 hours dry to the touch

    -5-6 hours to tack free

    -24 hours to full cure

    Re-coating

    -For best results, additional coats should be applied within 12 hours of first coat. -Additional

    coats can be added after 12 hours as long as surface is scuffed/scoured to a rough texture.

    Shelf Life

    -One year shelf life in a temperature controlled environment.
